Obituary for William L. Howie

West Peabody - William L. Howie, 87, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Murray) Howie, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a brief illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late David and Emily (May) Howie.

Mr. Howie had been employed for many years as a boilmaker pipefitter for the Local Pipefitters Union #29 of Quincy.

A longtime resident of West Peabody, he was an avid sports fan of the Boston teams and also enjoyed reading. But most of all he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Lorraine E. Howie of West Peabody, a sister, Iris Murrell of Scotland, a brother, John Howie of Scotland, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Hetty Crawford, Amy Smyth and George Howie.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., West Peabody on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
