Obituary for Robert W. Cohan

Robert W. Cohan, 91, of Beverly, died peacefully on Tuesday August 7th, 2018, in Beverly after a long illness. He was the husband of Marilyn R. (Haltom) Cohan. Robert was born in Worcester to the late Joseph and Beatrice (Jandron) Cohan.

Robert loved traveling with his wife Marilyn with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. He was a resident of Beverly for the majority of his life, a graduate of South High School in Worcester and earned his degree from Tuft’s University. He was active in the alumni association at Tuft’s and was the president of the Boston Tuft’s Club for many years. He worked in the travel industry for the majority of his working career. He was a lector at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church and volunteered at Blueberry Hill Nursing home after his retirement.

Surviving him are his two sons, Mark Cohan and his wife Susan of Baltimore, MD, Paul Cohan and life partner Jennifer Pickens of Gloucester; two daughters, Marybeth McPherson and her husband Michael of Beverly, Carolyn Susi of Westbrook, ME; twelve grandchildren, Joseph Cohan and his wife Shelly, Daniel Cohan and his wife Jessica, Timothy Cohan, Margaret Cogan and her husband Greg, Peter Cohan, Robert McPherson, Patrick McPherson, Brian McPherson, Madeline Susi, Thomas Susi, Michael Susi, and Nora Susi. Four great grandchildren Anthony Cohan, Chloe Cohan, Georgina Cohan, and Neila Cogan, Two former daughter in laws Patricia Cohan and Barbara Cohan; a sister in law Joan Cohan of Bolton, CT, seven nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers John and Joel Cohan.

Robert’s funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church on Saturday August 11th at 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly prior to the service from 10:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to American Heart Association www.heart.org .
