Obituary for Robert P. DePasquale

Beverly - Robert Paul DePasquale, 84, husband of Irene (Maccini) DePasquale for 62 years, passed away peacefully Friday at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Bianca “Bessie” (Morbitelli) DePasquale. He was a lifelong resident of the city and was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1952. In his youth, he was a member of the Sea Scouts where he learned all about sailing. Bob loved the ocean. He also served as a Sergeant in the National Guard for 10 years.

A fierce family man, Bob was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He cherished his family gatherings that would always start off and end up in the pool room in the beautiful basement that he remodeled. He loved going to his grandsons’ sporting events and was always so proud of them and their achievements. Bob had a fabulous and friendly personality, always, joking and laughing. The room lit up when he walked in.

He loved music and could always be found whistling or singing. Wherever he was, music would always be playing. He started going to dances at the age of 14. He later met his wife at the Oceanview in Revere. They continued to dance every Saturday night at all of the old, famous dance halls. He was a member of the ICC and the Vittori-Rocci Post.

The second love of his life was his old convertible cars, his red Cadillac Eldorado and
his Mercedes convertible sports car. Bob also enjoyed playing pool on Tuesday nights with his forever son-in-law and friend, Chuck Smith.

A patient man, he was a great mentor on building or repairing anything and everything. A very hard worker; Bob never sat down until the day was done. He worked at Danvers Concrete Block for many years. He was a member of Local 4 and he went on to become a heavy equipment operator for James J. Welch. In his retirement, he worked for Georgetown Building Supply as a forklift operator. He loved the camaraderie with all of the people that he worked with.

Bob remodeled his family kitchen, adding 10 feet on to his house, built a three-car
garage and several beautiful sheds in the backyard. His son, Paul, was his sidekick during most of his projects.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Paul DePasquale, and his wife Ethel, and grandsons, Derek and Nicholas DePasquale, all of Georgetown; his daughter, Nancy DePasquale and her partner, Jim Dean of Beverly; his sister, Gloria Lilja of Beverly; his brother, Richard DePasquale; his sister-in-law, Camille Maccini of Woburn, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis, Salvatore, and William DePasquale, and the brother-in-law of the late Leo Maccini, Anna DePasquale, Albert Lilja and Marie DePasquale.
