Obituary for Richard J. Levesque

Beverly – Richard J. Levesque 86, husband of the late Ann Shirley (Pisani) Levesque, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Born, raised and educated in Salem, he was the son of the late Edward and Bernadette (Ross) Levesque.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Coast Guard.

Richard had been employed for thirty years as a firefighter for the City of Beverly until the time of his retirement.

Throughout his life, Richard had many passions and interests. An avid gardener, he delighted in spending hours tending to his flowers and plants and working in his yard. Skilled in the trades, he was able to make many improvements on his home, such as adding rooms, updating electrical and plumbing systems, and landscaping the grounds. An enthusiastic and knowledgeable student of history, Richard could often be found reading books and articles on various historical topics.

But Richard’s greatest joy was spending time and traveling with the love of his life, his wife, Shirley. Together they roamed this great country and world, learning about people, history, and life. And now Richard is once again united with his beloved Shirley, happily traveling through an even greater realm, forever.

Surviving him are two daughters, Caren Levesque and Janice Levesque both of Beverly and a son, Richard J. Levesque Jr. of Beverly. He was also the brother of the late Teresa Spicer and Jeanette Cravatas.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
