Obituary for Marjorie Secher

Manchester-by-the-Sea - Marjorie (Lee) Secher 91, beloved wife of Arthur A. Secher, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Andrews) Lee. She was raised in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School, class of 1945. Mrs. Secher had been employed for many years as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Manchester Upholstering Company, until the time of their retirement in 2000.
Margie was an active member of the Cornerstone Church (formerly First Baptist Church) in Manchester, working with the Church Aide and Worship and Fellowship Committee. Her heart and prayers were with the missionaries sponsored by the church as well as the Navajo Missions in New Mexico and Jews for Jesus. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge - Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Amaral Bailey Post #113 in Manchester.
Margie enjoyed sitting on the porch with Art in their cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, visits with Gammy from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and singing “Happy Birthday” to everyone on the morning of their birth. Her lap was filled with a Red Sox fleece blanket as she prayed for so many. Manchester was her home, and she was so proud her family had been there since the days of Jeffreys Creek.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband with whom she shared seventy-one years of marriage, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lee Lamphear and her husband, James, of Manchester-by-the-Sea and two grandsons, Brandon Lee Lamphear and Rana Cohen of Beverly, and their daughters, Evelyn Christine Lamphear and Gwendolyn Marie Lamphear, and Noah R. Lamphear and his wife, Jill of Manchester-by-the-Sea. She is preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Secher, and siblings, Dorothy R. Lee and John Lee.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at the Crowell Chapel at Rosedale Cemetery, 4 Rosedale Ave., Manchester-by-the-Sea, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea. Contributions may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
