Obituary for Judith "Judy" Marie LeBlanc

Judy LeBlanc-call her “Judy,” never “Judith”-died peacefully in the presence of her family on the morning of April 6, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. She was 75.

A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, Judy was born Judith Marie Chadwick in Waltham, where she twirled a mean majorette baton and played a vicious game of croquet. In Waltham, Judy met the first two great loves of her life: Language and her husband of 53 years, André LeBlanc. Those two loves led her on a journey to Hawaii, where she earned her Master’s degree in Spanish while her husband served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Returning to Massachusetts, she applied her polyglot talents to teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language. She lived with her husband in Wenham for four decades.

In the late 1970’s, Judy took a position at GTE Sylvania teaching English and technical skills to the company’s foreign clients. That position became a springboard to her second career: writing bids and proposals for technology companies. Judy spent the decades that followed helping companies bridge the communication gap between technologists and their clients, at Sylvania, Wang Labs, Interleaf, Broadvision and others. A skilled and exacting wordsmith, Judy is presently rolling her heavenly eyes at her son’s attempt to capture her life in prose.

In retirement, Judy traded in her croquet mallet for bocce balls at the Wenham Senior Center. She also enjoyed competing in agility trials with her welsh terrier Charlie. She volunteered at the Acord Food Pantry, several Wenham town committees, and the Wenham Village Improvement Society. She served as an officer on the board of the Emmanuel College Alumni Association. She continued to teach English as a Second Language.

She is survived by her husband André, a retired dentist, her son Marc, a video game developer, her siblings James, Robert and Susan, her daughter-in-law Pier, and her two grandchildren Melinda (6) and Luc (2).

Judy was known for her take-charge attitude, her infectious sense of humor, and her unwillingness to suffer fools. She will be sorely missed.

A funeral mass will be held 9am on Wednesday, April 11th at The Church of Saint Paul, 50 Union Street, Hamilton, MA 01982. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street, Beverly MA 01930. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Acord Food Pantry (P.O. Box 2203 S. Hamilton, MA 01982) or the Emmanuel Fund (c/o Emmanuel College Development Office, 400 The Fenway 02115. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com
