Obituary for Jean J. Poirier

Beverly – Jean J. (Charest) Poirier 82, beloved wife of the late Robert A. Poirier, died Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Eva (Noiseaux) Charest. She graduated from St. James High School in Salem, class of 1953.
A resident of Salem before moving to Beverly in 1958, Mrs. Poirier was a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly. She had also been an active member of the Beverly Senior Center.
Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting caps for the newborn babies at Beverly Hospital. She was also a generous woman who often gave to those in need. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving her are two daughters, Yvette Poirier of Colorado and Teresa A. Nelson of Chelmsford, a son, Michael V. Poirier of Watertown, a daughter-in-law, Gina Poirier of Danvers, three grandchildren, Kyle R. Nelson, Alyssa L. Nelson and Adam M. Poirier.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, prior to the Mass on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
