Obituary for Gunther A. Schug

Beverly - Gunther A. Schug, 92, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Angela (Pappas) Schug who died in 2014.

Born in Chemnitz, Germany on April 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Gottfried and Harriet (Creutz) Schug. He immigrated to the United States via New York in 1950 and moved to Boston in 1954 before finally settling in Beverly in 1957. He served in the German Navy during World War Two and also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1953.

Mr. Schug had owned and operated the Schug Dental Studio in Beverly for fifty-three years before retiring in 2013. He spent over thirty-five of those years working with his son and daughter. Over the years he held many positions in the National Association of Dental Laboratories and also the Dental Laboratory Association of Massachusetts. His true love was spending time with his family and many friends.

He is survived by his son, Steven P. Schug and his wife, Maureen P. (Stevenson) of Beverly; his daughter, Karen S. Bartnicki and her husband, Paul of Beverly; two grandchildren, Melena and Carter Schug both of Beverly; sister, Heike Fritsch of Salem, NH; sister-in-law, Bessie Kenney of Methuen and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
