Obituary for Gordon S. Bell, Jr.

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA - Gordon S. Bell, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness.

Born in Beverly on April 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Gordon S. and Lucy A. (Fiske) Bell. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he served as a survival instructor and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1954.

Gordon was employed in the manufacturing industry for many years as a supervisor at Sylvania and ITT as well as the Eaton Corp. He was also once employed in the banking industry for several years following his discharge from the Air Force.

He was a sixty-five year member and Past-Commander of the Amaral Bailey Post #113, American Legion of Manchester-by-the-Sea and The Manchester Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and loved socializing with his many friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynne Hannah and her husband, Pat of Manchester-by-the-Sea; four sons, Charles Bell and his wife, Sandra of Beverly, David Bell of Manchester-by-the-Sea, William Bell of Magnolia and Eric Bell and his wife, Colleen of Beverly; seven grandchildren, James and Laurie Bell, Ryan and Maia Hannah, Whitney Bell and Grace and Koda Bell; three great-grandchildren, James Bell, Jr., Pheonix Hannah and Shealeigh Sullivan; three sisters, Alice Strangman and her husband, Lester of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Annette Gauthier and her husband, Henry of Magnolia and Marjorie Landry of Ipswich and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly from 4 - 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers,
