Obituary for Gertrude A. "Trudi" MacKay

Boxford, formerly of Danvers - Trudi A. (Cassola) MacKay 84, beloved wife of the late Robert C. MacKay, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at home.

Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Eleanor G. (Noyes) Cassola. She grew up and went to school in Beverly.

Mrs. MacKay had been employed for many years at the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly. She raised her family in Danvers and lived the past sixteen years in Boxford.

Trudi was sustained by the love of her family, her family was sustained by her love. Trudi’s greatest enjoyment came from attending events with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her sister and brothers. In addition to raising her four children, she had a hand in raising their friends, many of whom also called her Mom.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn MacKay of Washington, three sons, Robert MacKay and his wife, Deanna of Washington, William MacKay and his wife, Jennifer Entwistle of Newburyport and Scott MacKay and his wife, Tina of Danvers, five grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Bret and Joseph MacKay, Alix and Eric MacKay, three great grandchildren, Wyatte, Malikai and Oona, a sister, Connie Akelian and her husband, Mike of Lynn, and three brothers, Norm Cassola of Beverly, Albert Cassola of Beverly and Ken Cassola of Peabody. She was also the sister of the late Mary Cassola.

Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday, May 4, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
