Obituary for George C. Moniz

Manchester by the Sea - George C. Moniz, 91 years, husband of Renee (Dopart) Moniz, passed away November 29, 2017.
Born April 7, 1926 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Antone and Mary (Cardozza) Moniz. After being a dairy farmer in Middletown, RI, George came to Manchester in 1957 to work for the Brookwood School as the ground and buildings superintendent the first year the school opened. He retired from the Brookwood School in 1989.
George loved to spend time at his lake cottage in NH, making furniture in his spare time, square dancing and traveling on cruise ships. He was an avid cribbage player and a 50 year member of the Manchester Club.
George leaves his wife, Renee, of 71 years, son George C. Moniz Jr. and his wife Sharon (Silva) Moniz of Costa Mesa, CA, and son Mike Moniz of Auburn, ME. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, Charlie Moniz and his wife Dina of Marblehead, MA, Jenn Smith and her husband Kurt, of Cody, Wyoming, Emily Moniz of Boston, MA and Henry Moniz of Colorado Springs, CO and 3 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., B-102 Danvers, MA, 01923.
