Obituary for Doris C. Vitale

Hamilton - Doris C. (Leighton) Vitale 88, beloved wife of the late Ralph J. Vitale Sr., died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ellen (Olson) Leighton. Mrs. Vitale along with her husband, owned and operated Hamilton Fruit for many years until the time of their retirement. As a young woman, she had worked in the leather factories in Peabody. A resident of Hamilton for the past sixty years, Mrs. Vitale dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She was also an avid bowler. Surviving her are two daughters, Ellen Dragonetti and her husband, Ray West of Beverly and Robin Stewart and her husband, Bruce of Hamilton, two sons, Mickey Vitale and his wife, Susan of Danvers and Tommy Vitale and partner Debbie Bassett of Ipswich, fifteen grandchildren, Jay Vitale, Jeff Vitale, Michael Vitale, Tara Putur, David Vitale, Bryan Vitale, Krystin Sartorelli, Erica Vitale, Anthony Dragonetti, Johnny Vitale, Vanessa Vitale, Matt Stewart, Cassie Vitale, Erin Stewart and Jeffrey Stewart, eight great grandchildren, John and Ava Vitale, Alexis and Jacob Putur, Camden Vitale, Julian Vitale, Nico Sartorelli and Cambree Stewart, a daughter-in-law, Linda Vitale of Ipswich, three sisters-in-law, GiGi DiPaolo of Topsfield, Sandra Vitale of Hamilton and Jean Vitale and her husband, Paul of Port Saint Lucie, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late John A. Vitale and sister of the late Ray, John, Paul, Dana and Gordon Leighton. Her funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery. Contributions may be made in her memory to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A 1st Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
