Obituary for Dominic Louis Carnevale

BEVERLY – Dominic L. “PePe” Carnevale, age 95, died November 4, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Marion (Sultzbach) Carnevale. Dominic was a life-long Beverly resident he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Chipanelli) Carnevale.

An honorary discharged veteran of the United States Navy, he served in the Pacific during World War II as a member of the VT – 85th Torpedo Squadron aboard the USS Shangri – LA CV 38. He flew 17 combat missions as a tail gunner receiving 3 air medals. Lovingly referred to as “PePe” he was very involved in the community.

Dominic was the Administer Assistant to the General President of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Association of the United States and Canada.

He was a member of the Patrie e Lavoro Society for over 77 years and very involved in the Italian Community Center in Beverly. He was also the founding father of the Vittori-Rocci Post 56. PePe will be remembered for his Halloween and Christmas light displays.

Surviving him is a daughter Cynthia Burns and her husband William of Essex, a son David Carnevale and his wife Patricia (Roberts) of Winthrop; a daughter- in-law Diane (Bushy) Carnevale of Beverly; three grandchildren, David Carnevale Jr. and wife Kate, Evamarie Carnevale and her husband Arron Raff, Michael Burns and his wife Elizabeth. Four great-grandchildren, Grady, Oliver, Eleanor and Lili and many nieces and nephews. A special niece Pam Nardella nephew Nick Petronzio. Special friend Jessie Meyer all of Beverly. He was predeceased by his son Paul Carnevale, a brother, Edmond Carnevale, a sister, Josephine Petronzio and a grandson Derek Koloski.

Dominic’s Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery Beverly, MA. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Sunday from 1-4 PM.
