Obituary for Clyde F. McKay III

Salem - Clyde F. McKay III, 68, beloved husband of Carol J. (McGrattan) McKay, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Salem Hospital.

Born in Dover, NH, he was the son of the late Clyde Jr. and Winifred (Goodwin) McKay. He was raised in Exeter, NH and graduated from Exeter High School, class of 1967. He continued his education and earned both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire.

A longtime resident of Salem, Clyde was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots and Nascar as well. He had a great love for animals, especially cats and had been known to rescue them over the years. He also enjoyed military history. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared forty-two years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Mills and her husband, Jay of Salem and Kerry McKay and her husband, Frank Posluszny of Virginia, a son, Keith McKay and his wife, Siobhan of Scituate, five grandchildren, Kara and Emmet Posluszny, Clare McKay, Eleanor and William Mills, four sisters, Janice O’Brien of Lee, NH, Cheryl Wiscarva and her husband, Timothy of New Bern, NC, Coleen Shrier and her husband, David of Exeter, NH and Debra McKay of Exeter, NH, in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Robert McKay.

Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Services following will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
